spiced sugared pecans

12.11.2013

There is nothing like a super quick and easy holiday recipe that makes the house smell amazing right? Enter my spiced sugared pecans. I have been making these since I was a kid and have been adapting the ingredients ever since. I thought it would be nice to share my current version with you lovelies. You can't keep this kind of thing secret...it just wouldn't be fair!

Spiced Sugared Pecans

1 tbsp egg white
1 scant tsp of vanilla extract
2 cups of pecan halves
1/4 cup of sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 300 degrees and prep a sheet pan with parchment paper.

In a small mixing bowl mix the sugar, spices, and salt together and set aside. In a medium mixing bowl beat the egg white and vanilla extract lightly. Add the nuts to this bowl and toss to coat. Now mix in the sugar and spice mixture and toss thoroughly to coat.

Transfer nuts to the parchment lined baking sheet and spread them out in a single layer. Try to make sure the nuts do not touch each other so they do not stick together during baking.

Bake the nuts for 20-25 minutes until they are fragrant and the sugar is crystallized. Let them completely cool on the sheet for before transferring them to a bowl for immediate snacking pleasure. You can also wrap them up in cute containers like jam jars with a pretty ribbon and gift them to lucky family and friends.

You can easily double the recipe but be careful when baking 2 trays in the oven at one time as the bottom tray will bake faster and you don't want burnt nuts!

Enjoy!
